Daily beer project

Saturday we met friends for dinner at a family style Italian restaurant. The restaurant has lots of kitschy photos and posters on the walls, “celebrating” Italian culture, including a Moretti poster. Ironically, there was no Moretti on the menu. In fact, the beer menu was pretty disappointing, featuring four domestic macrobrews and two local beers on tap, plus Peroni in bottles. After having some Chianti with dinner, I ordered a Peroni just to give it a try.

Peroni claims to be the most popular beer in Italy, but that doesn’t mean it’s good. Budweiser is the most popular beer in America, after all. And Budweiser is actually better than Peroni. The brand slogan is “Italian style in a bottle.” Whatever. I don’t want to drink style anyway. I want to drink something that tastes good.

Rating: not awesome.
